you can build one easily enough........

i think its funny how these high-HP machines stopped selling well back then, and nowadays something like that would sell like hotcakes.

didn't honda have a atc500r to be released in 85? It made photo's, manual and owner manual, but none have been seen. The only thing ever heard about it was from Mike Coe and how they modified their atc250r's to mimic the chassis. I think I read it had a shorter swingarm and the front end was +1 forward, also the gas tank and radiator mounts were +1 forward. It went along the same line as the atc480r, atc200r, atc500x and who knows what else honda did and nobody knows about. I think honda was gonna release a atc200r in 85 or 86.

The 450 quads are, to the best of my knowledge, supposed to stay on the track, so any off-track use voids your ability to sue the manufacturer.

The Banshee was released way back in the 80's, so citing it as a counter-example to "these modern times" is sort of incorrect. Also, they stopped making it.

wrong, they are still being made in Canada, Mexico, Europe, etc. Even though I hate the geometry of the banshee frame and I think even though it is outdated from the 80's I still think it whoops the 450's on motor design, handling, and most important potential to be something better with little amount of funds being thrown at it. The reason for it not being on the market here in the USA is because liberals/democrats have convinced people that 2 strokes are bad and destroy the environment. There was a website posted that 2 stroke pollute more than cars do on 1 tank of gas than the car driving 400miles. Now the general public have bailed completely off the 2 stroke because the 5 valve motors are some how more powerful when if they had put the money and time in the 2 stroke design It would dominate the market.

"1 tank of gas" is a totally factless argument, and so is "car driving 400 miles". Exact models and fuel amounts would be nice.

Also, ever read up on Evinrude/Ski-Doo's E-Tech direct-inject two-strokes? I suggest you do. If they ever made a dirt bike/quad/etc with that tech, you can bet it would whoop up on everything. But I don't see it happening because of the inherent profit the major manufacturers make from the new 4-strokes.
