81 250r Swingarm

Will any other swingarm fit on my 81 250r? I only see 2 81 swingarms on ebay. I emailed both sellers to see if they have cracks. Wondering if I have more options.
How big of a problem is a few tiny cracks on the swingarm? I dont jump much, just average trail riding. Thanks.

Also, if one of you guys has a nice one for sell or trade I would be interested.

Get the swingarm from an 82 so you can convert to rear disc brakes.

I really don't know. Obviously the swingarm will see a lot of stress from even normal riding - but I really can't and won't suggest if it's safe or not. The fact that you have noticed it and is asking tells me maybe it's an issue you should address?

Post a few pics of the cracks - someone may better be able to advice you of what to do much more so then me. All I could suggest is maybe have a local welder touch it up?

I'll pull the one off the old R and clean it up and take some pictures. THe one on my running R has a huge crack, looks like the ass end is about to leave me :s I'll look into getting the one off the busted R welded. Thanks for the ideas.

Ok, damn :\ Guess Ill have to ride the 200m till I get a new one. I'm most likely going to get an 82 swinger from barryman. At least Ill have rear disc breaks then. I'm still open to a good 81 swinger though should anyone have one.

I hope you have a good welder to fab up mounts for the master cylinder and rezzy on the frame. The brake pedal is different too. I had a 81 and the drum brakes locked the tires up no problem. Just a FYI most aftermarket swingers for the 81-82 R's took both style brake setups.

Here are the pics of the swinger. I do have some good news and bad news. I have everything to convert over to disc brakes but the rear master cylinder. After getting everything together i noticed the bad news. It has been cracked before and welded. I only saw in this one spot, but it appears it needs to be touched up a bit.

Your best bet would be to keep searching for a swinger in better shape. Then if you do end up with an 82 i have the disc brake parts.
