    Just got a 1986 250SX this week

Makes #3 for us in a year. I hope we're done buying these for a while now. We got this one for my wife to ride. The shock on the rear end makes the ride bearable for her bad back and now she can join the kids and I in the fun. She made a 400 mile round trip inside Ohio to the Warren area to pick it up while I was at work. I'll grab some pics later today of our machines.

I have a few questions on this one.

It has the stock size 22x11x8 knobby on the steer and it has 20x10x9's on the drives. I'd like to put on some more aggressive mud and snow tires on the back and was wondering if there was any reason I couldn't put some 22x10x9 Maxxis Zilla's or AMS Swamp Fox's on the same wheels?

I can't find a choke lever. Is this one an automatic choke? It fires up right away with the kick starter.

How much motor oil for an oil change?

It doesn't have a battery box or battery and the muffler has been patched up and welded quite a bit. The muffler is also a straight pipe. Our Honda dealer is hooking us up with the battery box and a Cobra muffler. I'll grab a new battery from Advance.

you can for sure put those tires on, as long as there the same size wheel. I had some big ole spider trac's on my banshee when i got it and went down to a smaller 20" tire. As far as oil run some honda GN4 in it and it will take 2 quarts or less for sure, im not positive on the amount though. Congrats on the new buy!!

Same here Harold......... just put together an 85 250sx for my wife. Her 125m was getting to be a bit to much for her on the longer rides. The stock tires on the 250SXs are 22x11-8 inches all around......... your choke should be just to the right of the starter button on the left side of your bars, it slides to the right or left versus the pull on type chokes. For oil go with 2.2 quarts of 10w-40. The final drive needs 3.3 oz. of sae80. I'll be posting some pics of my wifes SX and our ride recently as soon as she shows me how to work the new camera Congrats and good luck.

The 110 is getting some new axle bearings and I'm throwing in a bonus pic of the 1947 CJ. Got 2 grand in it and it still ain't running. There's also nothing like a teenager with attitude. I'm glad she lives in town with her dad.

The barn is in the middle of being cleaned up. It puked out in to the yard last week.

I took another look at the rear wheels and they are 9x8.0 . Will a 22x10x9 tire still fit on these?

if your honda dealer is hooking you up,m i'd ge the battery from him as personally it's the least you can do for a "hook up".

Thanks for the help, guys. I found out today that the battery box was discontinued by Honda. Guess I'll try my luck with an online vendor.

I'm starting to think the carb is a funky aftermarket one. I can't find any choke controls anywhere to save myself.

The Big Red has GBC Dirt Devil IIs on it and I ordered a pair of ITP Mudlites for the SX this morning. Just for the record, the 110 has Nanco Bushwackers, not Trailpros. Though they might as well be.

I have an extra battery box for the SX. I sandblasted, primed and painted it black. I can try to post some pics of it Wednesday. If you want it, give me your zip and I'll get you a price shipped.
