    200m Gas Cap Leak

I've been having the problem of my gas cap leaking on my 200m. I thought it might be the rubber seal, but I bought a new one and it didn't help much. I've cleaned both on the tank and cap where the seal is supposed to seal, but it still leaks. What should I try next? I want to get this fixed because the gas ripples the paint on the tank where ever it hits, at least it is only cheap Krylon spray paint.

No one has any suggestions? I want to get the cap to stop leaking because I want to do a good job painting my tank, and there is no sense in doing a good job if the gas leaking out ruins the paint.

There is an imperfection somewhere. On the tank side or cap side. Maybe it is the wrong cap? I would check every surface very well. For a quick fix you could double up[ on the gaskets or teflon tape the thread and make the threads the sealer.

Yours is probably not venting right at the top of the cap (CLOGGED or rusted shut ) which causes the cap to leak at the sides at the gasket . Basically your going to need a new cap . Gas in you tank makes a-lot of pressure and it has to vent some were .

thats a good point. you can drill a hole through your cap and put a hose on it though. i have seen a couple people do that.

I don't think it is the cap, but it could be. I took the cap apart (yes, I know, not supposed to come apart) and it didn't seem to be plugged at all, but the vent holes seem to be made very small (about the size of a sewing needle).
Would pressure only build up on rough terrain? Because thats that only time the cap leaks.
I think I can get some neoprene, and if it's gas resistant I'll double up the rubber gasket with it.

Whenever we get out for a ride you should bring it along. BTW, have you got your truck on the road yet so we can get out for a ride?
