    I myself would not trust that axle./ I'd be too afraid it weaked the metal and woudl cause it to break on use. lol but that's me.

    uh..... i would grind the nut off. just dont screw the threads. aaaahahahaha lame play on words. just hope the guy before you greased the splines. ive got a 80' 185 that was used in a fishing camp in bethel, even a 16lb wont take the hub off.

    Grinding the nut without damaging the threads would be nearly imposssible. The thread on the axle and nut are very very fine threads.
