    Question 250r Axle Removal 1983 1984.

Hi, The manual is not clear on how to get the axle out of the carrier. One thing I know is there is no circlip on the 42 tooth sprocket. The axle has to be removed from left to right. So on the left side you have the brakes which is easy to do.

Once I take the rotor off how do i get the brake disc holder to come off the axle??? The axle will not remove cause the brake disc holder is larger then the carrier. Another point i have is the brake disc holder is not holding the axle in place. What is holding the axle in place??? Probably a large Circlip i'm guessing. But to get the circlip off I have to get the brake holder off. Will it tap off to the left with a ?

UPDATE: I found a large circlip on the breakdown online that holds the axle in place. The circlip is on the left side of the axle just like i thought. So how do you get the break disc holder off???

dang i've only done this twice on my 83; I dont have the bike with me now or I would know by looking at it. Im going to venture a guess and say maybe that the holder bracket just gets tapped out? I cant recall man sorry. Bump for you

Yes, that disc brake holder needs to be tapped off with a . (Same as my 200x. The problem is that they are splined, and rust forms where the two surfaces meet. You could try penetrating oil first, then go to heat if no luck.

There are alot of complexities here. First off, do you have any mechanical abilties whatsoever? I'm guessing the answer to this question is no, because you can't even take the axle out of your trike. So let's start with the basics here. I realize it is, indeed, very difficult for you to remove the rear axle of your trike. This could probably be attributed to either your lack of mechanical ability, or your lack of inteligence. I really couldn't tell you which, that's up to you. If you start to disasemble your trike and something is holding you back from taking it apart, you more than likely will have to remove said part. Call me crazy, but if there is a circlip or nut preventing you from taking your axle out, you may want to remove it. If after removal of said circlip or nut you still can't remove said part, you may want to do like I did and put some time, effort, and thought into the removal of said part until you come to a solution that results in the removal of your axle. Crazy, eh? Time, effort, thought, and very little skill may result in your ultimate goal- the removal of your axle.

Or- just give up. If you can't figure out how to take your axle out, maybe you should find a new hobbie.

    Well said.

Come on fabiodriven, the 3 wheeled brother was only asking because he didnt know. We all have the same interest and we all have differant levels of knowledge. The poor bloke turns to people like youself for help and he's absolutely humiliated. He has taken the time to ask for help and you've gone outta your way to put in the effort to bag him out. Good Work Mate. Funny thing is, you've be-littled ol' mate for his question yet shown proof in your post that you may not know anymore than he does. Your post proves your defiantely an export. Someone who knows more and more about less and less and now its confirmed you know absolutely everything about nothing!!!

Dude I laughed even harder when I saw it was from 3 am I he searches he will see this is not an uncommon problem. I can rebuild engines all day long but it took me a week to get my axle out cause the (break disc holder) was rusted on. Take out the clip on the holder heat it til its red and beat the crap out of it. Fabio and DC ragged me about it then told me that is what it takes. Don't foreget a block of wood on the end of the axle. I used a map gas torch and a 10lb sledge. Let me guess the next question is how to get out the swingarm bolt.
