Please Help-Should i buy this 85 big red

i went to see this 85 big red today and its in good shape but it wont start. he originaly wanted 700 but then said he would take 450. after seeing it today he said he would take 300. he might take 250. this is what i can tell you. i took off the plug and put it back into the wire and tried to get an arc onto the head but nothing. this fuel line coming out of the tank went down and then up real high before coming back down into the carb. there was a clear inline filter and the actual filter part inside looked like gold flakes. the filter was in the middle of the first uphill climb in the line and it didnt look like fuel was getting to the carb. someone had said something about a compression lever? there was a lever up on the front top part of the head and it was easy to move. please help me decide if i should buy this and what might be wrong

f i could get it for $250 i'd do it provided it has decent compression. The spark issue isn't that big of a cost to fix as is the fuel system. I say go for it!

well i did notice in the classified section that its all "WTB" ads. so if i got it for 250, and found out the compressionis bad i guess i could part it out and get my money back. or it could be an easy fix and i end up with a steal

why would the gas not be going through the line and into the carb?

There is NO compression release on a 1985 250es bigred

unless it says 200m, it's a big red. but it's not a 250. t's a 200cc. those are easy, your in SA sweet!!! i could help you get it running, I'm 4 hours north in arlington! my friend lives in SA that I go see about once a month usually or he comes here.

Its a Big Red 200... No rear suspension... Its a 84 or earlier, not a 85...
