.22 rifle porn...

With the cost of ammo through the roof, I decided to build a Ruger 10/22 for some plinking and, well, having the baddest .22 on the block, pretty much

I started with a Ruger 10/22 with the synthetic stock and special edition textured paint finish on the receiver. I added:

A Volquartsen Target Hammer kit
Christie and Christie basic kit (recoil buffer, auto bolt closer, extended mag release, extended bolt handle)
Volquartsen stabilization module
Adams and Bennet .920 match grade bull barrel
Fajen synthetic stock
a Tasco pronghorn 3 x 9x 32 scope

I also broke down the trigger assebly and did some buffing ...

This gun wil shoot through the SAME HOLE at 50 yards. It's a friggin tack driver. Tons of fun for less than you think......

I keep wanting to mod out my 10/22 with a tac stock and mod the trigger, or buy a aftermarket one.

$525.00 total. I spread it out over about a year, so it was not a big deal. I also bought the gun before the "obama craze" that has driven everything way up.

If I had to do another one by the end of the week, I'd prolly have about 600 in it. Still to to bad for a rifle you can shoot all day for less than 20 bucks, and is AMAZINGLY accurrate.

How did the buffing of the trigger assemble help the pull . I would like to do some thing to mine to help the pull resistance I have a ruger 10/22

i want to do soemthign along those lines to my charger turn a good shootign bench pistol into a tack driver i am shootign 4 inch groups out of the box at 100 yards not too bad for a 2 2pistol

I know- It suprised the hell out of me. A friend of mine bought one for his .22, and I could NOT BELIEVE the clarity and performace of the dang thing.

That Tasco Pronghorn is the nicest scope I have ever purchased under 100 dollars. I have Leupolds on everything else with the exception of one rifle that has a Nikon Buckmaster and another 22 that has a Bushnell Trophy. I know a good scope when I use it, trust me. I would have never believed it was a Tasco if it was not printed on the scope.

Oh, and on the question about the trigger pull/ and sear, I pulled it all apart, and lightly buffed and oiled the parts of the assembly where any metal touches- smoothing out friction points is key. But the BEST mod that I did was intall the Volquartsen target kit. It comes with a new , upgraded shims for tighter tolerances, a spring kit for the and sear assembly, etc. That alone got the trigger pull down to just over 2 lbs. Check out www.rimfiresports.com for the Volquartsen target kit, or just do an internet search. They are everywhere and it is by far the best mod.

The parts and accessories for the 10/22 seem to be almost endless. I know guys that have nearly 2 grand in theirs

But when you have a target with a dime size hole in it after 50 rounds, or a one shot 100 yard varmit gun, it's worth it.

I got a free romanian m1969 trainer a few weeks ago, good little plinker. Got bored one night after a few beers and made this little compact stock from scratch. No measurements or nothing, just dremel, hacksaw and file.
