Question Help Installing Rocker Cover 200x

I pulled the rocker cover of my 200x because there was a lot of sealer around it. I don't have the motor off the bike, I just lifted it up like 2 inches and removed the old and fixed it. I also loosened the CDI cover don't know if that matters

When I set it back down, it doesn't sit flush no matter how I position it. Both pins are there along with the oil plug. I tighten it down according to the manual its like 20foot pounds or something like that. It sat flush after that.

My kicker is shot, So I cant use that to turn it over, before I was able to turn it over with a big wrench on the rear hubs, I cannot do that now. But If I loosen the cover I can? But I can rotate the flywheel with a socket just fine.

Is this normal? Did I miss a step?

Sounds like you pinched your cam bushing....When you take the cover off the cam bushing has a pin that seats in the head and that could have came up and when you tightened it down you just pinched it into the bushing seat which is not good....

If your bushing is aligned, it's just the rocker arm getting hung up, remove the access caps, make sure both cam lobes are down and lift the rocker arms with your fingers as you slide the cover down.........

Did you re-adjust the valves clearance after removing the sealant?

Good Call on adjusting the valves, but when I loosen the cdi bolts the one that bolts to the cover and the one that bolts to the head I can get it to turn over. But if I tighten it I cannot.

I plan on pulling the motor tommrow and taking a better look at it.

Did you check the cam bushing like the first guy posted? The bushing on the right side has a locating pin which should point down into a pre-drilled hole. if it is not ligned up you could be pinching the cam when you tighten down the cover.

Im pulling the motor out tommrow to get a better look at its condition. Going to see if the motor is worth rebuilding and worth fixing the kicker, if not, its going to be a autox.

Well took the motor off today. Pulled the rocker cover all the way off. It needs a cam, rockers, seals, kicker gears, stator had a half quart of oil in it.

So its becoming my autox project.

What you paid for it is still a good price even as a roller.
