Who started with the worst rebuild candidate?

Alright, lets see who used the worst possible candidate for their rebuild. I am talking about trikes that were not even worth parting out and got the full frame off rebuild. I'll start us off. I just picked up this 1986 250sx and am currently stripping it down to do a full rebuild. I've already got a 350x front end for it and I'll weld stops on the neck when i get the frame totally stripped. Yes, that is a golf cart front tire.

    Worst machine !!

This is prolly about the worst chasis that I ever did a restoration on ,as far as being a mostly complete machine to begin with.It was an '83 ATC 185S and here's a couple pic's immediatley after unloading it off the truck.[IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] here's the before....

    And after....

    [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

And here's a couple pic's of the after.Like I said it was an '83 185S ,not one of Honda's biggest seller's back in the day I'm sure but it was a cool trike to restore and was sold to a collector down in Cleveland. I remember when I did that machine I put on every Hondaline accessory that I could get for it at the time. Now don't get me wrong about this but I enjoy seeing an old '83 185S or a nicely restored plain jane orange/red ATC 185 all dolled up rather than the same 250R's and 350X's alot of the time.I just don't think those machine's get the apprecaition that they should alot of the time.I'm not saying that I don't like the other machine's any less I just don't think they get the same attention. You guy's know what I'm getting at...

I've had a few of those 185s models in my time, I like them also, they are just a little bit too small to be my daily rider. I sold my last 185s about a year ago. The 250sx I just picked up ( the one at the beginning of the thread ) actually runs great. The motor is strong and tight with no smoke, doesn't look like a bolt has ever been turned on the engine. I stripped the entire machine this morning and when I got the swing arm off I pulled the driveshaft out and it looked great, no water intrusion and the area where the seal runs on the driveshaft down by the pinion gear has virtually no wear on it. the oil in the diff looked great also. the tank has no dents in it, however it looks like someone left the gas cap off and it filled with water because i have never seen so much rust in a tank but there are not any rust through spots anywhere on it.

Ya know~When I look at a pic of anything i'm alway's looking in the background see what is in the back of the pic I guess you could say,and when I look at the pic of the machine restored I seem to find that those tire's(the trail-pros),those are the only major thing's that catch my eye..LOL~ I don't know why you people love those tire's that much Thank's for the compliment guy's,I know alot of us enjoy bringing them back and that's awesome too see .
