The kill switch works by grounding out the ignition. When it will not kill the motor, that means a bad connection somewhere. The headlight is another clue, Im pretty sure they share the same ground connection. Using a Ohm Meter, you should have continuity to the frame from the kill switch. You need a wiring diagram, and chase it down.
