    ATC 110 bogging/carb ? help

    New to the forum here......
Thanks in advance for any help. I read through carb tuning 101 - lots of great info. and searched as best I could for help. If there is a thread that is related please let me know as well.

    background:
-bought a 82 ATC 110 at an auction cuz I always wanted one for moose hunting
-looks like it sat in the rain for years
-it was siezed and the tranny had issues
-had seats resurfaced and had new valves installed
-had bored cylinder, new piston, rings etc
-rebuilt carb. soaked for days. used compressed air, needles, small wires etc to make all is clear.
    -cleaned rust out of tank
    -petcock filter clean and clear
-replaced fuel hose (*) I used fuel injection hose which is not round in shape and may be restrincting ?
    - fixed shifter star and added missing shifter pins - works great.

    problem:

    -bogs past 1/2 throttle

-it only runs past 1/2 throttle with choke on, even just a little choke- IF AIR CLEANER BOX INSTALLED (no element)
-if no air cleaner box installed, runs full throttle.-idles fine either way

    - plug was black after a few minutes of running either way above

(I was thinking it was a lean condition)

    I have tried
    - monkeying with float level - no change
    - moving needle clip up or down - no change
    - recleaned carb and all orifices at least 5 times
    - pilot screw adjustments make no difference
    - valve clearance good

    Thoughts:
    - Exhaust pipe clogged or restriced - seems good to me when air blown through it
    - fuel hose restricting flow - but (with petcock removed from carb fuel flows freely on both reserve an on positions
    - carb has internal corrosion or pits I cant see
    - ?????

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Matt

    The exhaust is probably restricted.

I tried it without the exhaust and no change so I don't think it is an exhaust restriction.

    come on with the ideas!

its running way too rich it runs right without the air box because its starving for air, i would check if the intake on the frame is clear

Thanks for the responses so far!

It is not the intake o the frame.

The air box is hooked up but no element and the box is not hooked up to the tube that goes through the frame. I thought it might be picking up breather air and tried it with the box inlet pointing away from the frame. No change.

    Thanks again

check ignition timing/air filter. also make sure ALL passages in the carb are CLEAN. especcialy the main jet. I restored a 200 last summer, the carb bowl had a inch of aluminum rust sitting in the bottom. drove my self crazy getting it clean/patched.

sounds like its running rich to me. i dont quiet understand why you can run above 1/2 throttle good as long the choke on. That usually means lean. But if it runs better without the airbox, that seems to imply rich. Good Luck.
