    Some 86R questions and pics

Was out yesterday picking doing a little clean up on the bike. Was half afraid to hit it with the pressure washer until I ask here. So anyone use this method and what do you remove?

The bike has an exhaust leak on pipe leaving the head, so over the phone I said I wanted whatever gasket there was and this is what Honda gave me. I have no idea where it goes and I think the rest has to be replaced aswell. Will high heat gasket silicone work where the flange mounts to the head, that flat gasket that was there is shot?

Any idea how to adjust this and I dont believe my chain should be able to move that much.

Why would someone have the rims mounted inside out?

valve stems in will protect them and also if the rims are dished it will make the tires out farther

THAT LOOKS LIKE 528 OR 530 CHAIN. thats why its so wide on the sprocket, it looks aweful narrow,, so measure the offset on the wheels. if the wide side is to the inside turn them around to make it wider,, if its the same its probably kool to leave the stems in for protection.. as far as pressure washing,,, put the airbox lid on plug the exhaust port good,,, and have at it,,,

I know it just fits in my shed door like that, but the rims would make her wider on the right way.

Hmmm, I guess a new chain is also in the list of things to pick up aswell. Bought it from a dirtbike and quad guy so I guess he just threw a chain he had kicking around on it.

Those tires on the rear have a rotation direction arrow, and can only be used one way or they will not hook up properly. Possibly the person who mounted them on the rims didnt notice the arrow until it was too late? Maybe if you turn the rims the right way, they will be on bass ackwards. check it out. Good luck, and looks like a great project/rider so far. --- Jon.

    Thxs folks.
Ah, yes never thought of the reverse rotation. Guest I will change them around on the rims as well.

I really need to figure out the exhaust problem. Can I run high temp silicone on the flange where it mounts to the cylinder? And what is the gasket honda gave me?, and that half ring is that suppose to lock into the grove in the flange, I assume yes?

    Here is the part number.

If you want to put the wheels on properly, so they are wider, and you're worried about the direction of the tires, you don't need to remove the tires from the wheels, just switch the right wheel/tire to the left side, and the left wheel/tire to the right side. That will keep the tires rotating the same direction while the wheels are mounted correctly.

I've never tried just the silicone & no gasket, so I can't comment on that question, but the new ring does go in the slot on your exhaust flange. Clean out the ring groove good before installing the new ring. After installing the ring, make sure the gap is the top of the flange. That will minimize exhaust spooge leakage. Good luck!

Whats up with your carrier, it looks as if the flange that has the adjustment spanner holes is MIA? Or is it just on the bottom, covered by your hand?

How bout these pics of the carrier?. Also threw in a pic of the spare rims and cut tires that came with the bike. The guy told me his grandfather cut them open on him and his cousin for having too much fun with little traction.
