    Exclamation Why HONDA, WHY!!!!!

Why were these "things" we enjoy so much built so well??

This goes back to the 60's and 70's even before the big trike "boom", but they made these engines and other goodies run and work soooo well.

I guess that was before people got greedy and just wanted to get rich, the hell with the consumer.

Does anyone else find it AMAZING that with just a hair of maintenance your 1500$ NEW trike could last you 20 years EASY...........

I'm not raggin on the other brands, but Honda did it right for a long time. The failures within the other mods - IMHO - were simply the fact that HONDA paid there engineers better be it $$ or hotties Lets face it, we all go waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of our way for a hottie

So, WHY, WHY WHY WHY were our beloved trikes built so well? The things are near bulletproof with just a hair off maintenance........

Partially why you guys piss me off when you can't take care of the simple stuff.... Honda handed you the HOTTIE and asked you to give her a bath but all you did was ride her.

They certainly weren't building trikes they wanted to make money from. It took years and the 25 years were at now that we need grommets, spacers and gaskets just to keep them going. THEY DON'T DIE!!!

What were they thinking? They should have built a bunch of fdailure points into the trikes, but apparently back then - THEY ACTUALLY CARED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't mind me, I'm just thinking while I spent my day looking over my 20yo plus Honda's that it's amazing how well all that engineering works as long as it's maintained.........

Thats all kids, tune in tomorrow
All our government does is distract us while they steal from us, misspend our tax $ and ruin our country

I've got a 1971 honda CL175 that my grandfather bought new . He drove it to work in the summer months for a few years and got it from him when he couldnt drive it anymore about 20 years ago and let me tell you its still like brand new and still has the original tires and fuel lines exc and runs like a fine watch . I drive it about once a month and it always starts easy without any problems .

When I was a young lad, I never really care for Hondas, just because everybody in the family rode a Kawasaki(street bikes). But now that I'm older and a tad wiser, I feel the same as you when it comes to trikes, even though I've had my share of issues with mine
My rides, 1985 ATC 350X, With legit Lamborghini Countach paint,2003 Harley Davidson FXDL Dyna Low Rider, customised the way I like it! 1997 GMC Sierra is gone, primary mode of transportation, 2008 Toyota Yaris!

Check out my build thread of my 350X

I dont know what it is either, but the old honda motors never die. I have a 1967 Honda mini trial 50, never been rebuilt, never had any new gaskets, and motor never been opened. Basically all you have to do is change the oil every so often, that is the best maintenance a guy could do. Runs like a champ everytime! It sat in a barn for at least 15 years, I drug it out, put on new tires, chain, and cleaned carb, and purrs like a kitten. This was the first thing I ever rode and was about 18+ years ago! The body has taken a thrashing over the years, but the motor, let me tell ya..........

My Pilot has been through more than 300hrs of use in my name, hundreds more as a racer of my dads, and yet still runs with basic maintenance. Honda OVER engineered the machine and it took until 2007 for someone else to make a machine even close, and even then, a pilto done right will EAT a REVOLT or RZR.

I have had nothing but Honda's and one Kawasaki, All my Hondas have lasted to the tee, even the 250sx I found in a river and was neglected for 10years sitting in that river started up with a top end clean and some new gas and oil.

If honda made a ATC or Pilot today... I would buy it in an instant, regardless of cost.
    Nothing to ride... for now

it's funny, every time i need to replace something and go to put a wrench on my 250R, I am AMAZED at the thought that went into it. for example. the rear brake cotter pin, the little bolt held by a cotter pin cannot fall out even if the cotter pin fails. It hits the rear swingarm so you can still have your rear brakes!!
and the frame gusset with the holes in it so you can remove your upper shock bolt...i love these bikes and Honda!

I'm a Kawi guy at heart when it comes to trikes, but I will admit for reliability you can't beat a Honda. Kawi's aren't too bad as long as you maintain them, and I'd rock a Yami. Suzuki off road, bikes, quads, whatever, ICK! I like the 125's and 185's, but that's about it. Even those little guys don't steer in quad form.

The $60 POS 1985 Big red I just bought and turned back into a one kick machine, starts easier, and idles more smooth than my 04 Suzuki ltz 250. Go figure..................
If you can't fix it with a , its an electrical problem.

85 ATC 200s--Ratted out and not running at the moment

86 ATC 200x--All stock other than the handle bars

85 ATC 250es Big Red -- Just got new rubbers and she wants to ride!!

04 Suzuki LTZ250 quadsport - It was a decent price and I'm a raging idiot.

Hondas pwn man. The cars and the trikes. Only thing in the same leauge is Toyota. But hondas kicks toyota in the ass when it comes to looks. But most yotas are non interference engines. Thats pretty big in my book. If only they where not so fugly.
