    85 Bigred 250es help!!

Ok, well first off, does anybody in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas area have a 1985 250es parts trike? Because recently everything on my trike started going bad. So far the problems Im having is, the rings or something are gone, so it smokes bad! My breaks are gone, I need a rebuild kit, the starter or solenoid went out, and the carb needs rebuilt.

Its kindof overwhelming for me, because I'm still in high school, and I can't afford to buy all new parts. If I can't find a parts bike, I might have to unfortuantly park it for a long time, or sale it. Which I don't want to do.

I know where I can but and 87 250 Honda 4 wheeler. Could I use any parts off of it?

Please help, I don't want to park my favorite toy.

the engines are identical in the fourtrax 250 from 85-87 I believe, so you could interchange those

Brake shoes arent too spendy for the BR... The 85-87 250SX has the same motor as well... My starter took a dump on my BR, and bought a 50 dollar ebay jobby, and it works great.... Carb kit is 20 bucks...

Ok, thanks thorpe, that's good news. And for the gas tank, it was rusted all the way through by the seat. So I welded the tank as best as possible, then I put a couple layers of jb weld over it. That stopped the leak, but it doesn't look good. So what tank liner would do the best in stopping the leak?

Ok, well I've been trying to fix my bigred for a couple weeks. For the tank, I've fixed it with jb weld. But othr than that, i'm out of money. I feel horrible about letting it just sit in the yard. Not running. So I've talked to my mom, and I had this depressing thought. I'm thinking of selling my bigred. I don't want to, but it deserves a home where it can be properly repaired and maintained. We have to figure out the title first. Since it's still in my grandpas name.

But my question is. What would be a good price to try to sell my bigred for? That is if we can sell it. I'm not 100% sure of what I'm going to do. I just don't want to sell it. But it deserves a good home.

    Thabks for the future help.

Well... From the sounds of it, in its current condition, its probably about a 200-300 dollar machine... Fixed and running decent its probably worth 800-900, restored and looking really sharp, around 1500... (or at least what it would bring up here around Minneapolis) You will end up kicking yourself if you sell it...

Talk to Hondaluvr and see if he can hook you up with some of your needed parts... Here is the link to his BR parts machine...

Thanks thorpe. I really do think I would hate myself if I sold it. That's one of the things keeping me from selling it.
Well last year this time the bigred ran pretty good. And this year when I got it out. It needed a battery so I got one. The after that everything went ring on it at once. It was like the bigred said "bam, bam, bam.... Now fix me!" and I was like crap. I can't afford that. So I'm kindof stressed about it because everything at once went bad.

One day at a time, one project at a time, don't try to do it all at once. It wont cost you any money if its sitting waiting for your attention. Good luck bro.
If you can't fix it with a , its an electrical problem.

Thanks bonkers. I've been trying to fix it one step at a time, but when your itching to hop on it and ride. It's hard to let it sit there. I'm sure you know what I mean. The main problem I'm having is actually finding parts I can afford. I'm trying to get it running, and stopping by mid October to ride. So all I need is new brake pads, and brake cables. I might have to take my 4 wheeler, but I'd prefere the 3wheeler. Because you just can't beat the way a 3wheeler rides.

Pads and cablews shouldn't take too much. Who needs brakes anyway?

My first trike was a BR 200es with a bent axle and no brakes but, she ran like a Cadillac, so I drove it like a brakeless Cadillac till the day it died
