New gasket should do it. Either its just old and past its time, or someone had it off at one time and put it back on.
If you can't fix it with a , its an electrical problem.

make sure no one over ported the head and port the exhaust right up to a thin wall of then top head chamber.

I would say that you should pick up a new gasket and oring, and make sure you have all the springs on. Should fix it

I don't think im reading you, so I made this for your assistance.

Oil may leak out of the "exhaust" which can be fixed with the gasket/orings. The red line is where your head gasket goes, oil should not leak out of there at all or there is a problem. Don't mess with the head.

tri-z's are mofos to seal up at the exhaust/cylinder....

get the silencer off, take the pipe off, get the new gasket and spacer thingy, then clean everything up really nice.

put a fair amount of rtv on the cylinder where the pipe fits, put rtv inside the pipe where the spacer goes, put rtv inside the spacer, put the gasket in, a little more rtv, then throw the pipe on the bike with springs, get the silencer all mounted up and let it cure for an entire day.

there is a high temp black silicone that ihave found works the best. cant think of the name off hand but its made by permatex.

Your buddy is correct. If a TriZ does NOT leak at the exhaust it is abnormal.
