Which 2 stroke for my 200x?

hey all, i'm planning on putting a 2 stoke in my 87 200x. most likely going to buy a late 80's cr125 or cr250 and make the switch. anybody know whether a 250 will fit and/or anything to look out for while doing this project?

Its going to be far from a bolt in deal. It would almost make more sense to buy a 250R, as the suspension is better, and it was made for what it is. The 86-87 200x's are becoming more hard to find, and if were me, I wouldnt want to hack the frame, and the expansion chamber would be a pita to fit. With all the time/effort to make the 2 stroke motor fit, it just wouldnt be worth it in my opinion. Good luck with whatever you choose.

unfortunately the previous owner took this bike completely apart, putting it back together with much missing, head bolts, wiring, sections cut off the frame etc.. he should be put in jail for it. however, this was my first bike so there is an emotional attachment, the reason why i'm asking which engine would be best is so i dont have to cut the frame in half, just relocate motor mounts (hopefully)

x2 on that. Air cooled means you won't have to dick around with radiators and those things do have some sac. To quote a local old timer who had one, "You just look at the throttle and the thing stands up!" If you asked him if it was fast he'd say "Those of the likes you've never seen!"
