    cam chain/oil pump?

    Hey guys,
Got my chain in the mail today for the 87 250es! Is there anything I need to do as far as bleeding the oil system, since I removed the pump and pipes for the removal? Also I don't have any of the recomended grease for cam ends, and substitutes available, or do I need to order that? I hope to get started on this tonight.
    thanks

you dont need to bleed the oil system. i use a good synthetic oil on the cam ends.

You can prime the oil pump by cranking over the engine without the spark plug in. It never hurts to do that.

I try and pack the oil pump with engine rebuilding lube whenever I replace or rebuild an oil pump. It's pretty thick so it doesn't just run out like oil when you assemble it. It's good stuff, I put it on the cam and rockers also.

You need the lube but you don't have to order it. You should be able to pick up assembly lube at Auto Zone or another auto parts store.

......far to much bad info in here already

jeddy, that it the crazyest thing i have ever heard of. why would you want thick assembly lube pushed though out your motor?

fresh MOTOR OIL would be a wiser choise.

rdlsz24, do you know how long you have to pull/kick over a motor till you would get any amount of oil to the tiop end by doing that?

    makes no sence...

honda dude, you only realy need assembly lube for the beak in of new parts....if it's an old cam oil will due fine
