Honda 200x sputter and die while riding

My 200x was running great today on our ride but after a few big hill climbs it basically stopped running.....It would start and idle/rev fine put as soon as you tried to drive away it would die. So we let it cool down and it ran fine again like it maybe just over heated. Rode some more and it was riding fine but going up a hill about 3/4 throttle in 2nd it just sputtered and died. I let it cool down again and it ran great.....The head gasket is leaking could that be the problem? I have a new one sitting in my garage but I am wondering what else I should look for when I take it apart? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I would inspect the inside of the carb. It does not take much to plug a jet.

Hmmm maybe. One weird thing I noticed the past couple of days is after starting it if you punched the throttle really quick it would just die or almost die.....I am really considering selling my 200x and upgrading to a 350x, after those hill climbs today I realized it just doesn't have the guts to get up them.....

sounds like something is clogging in the fuel system.
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it.

Start with the basics. Check and make sure the gas cap is venting properly first and foremost.
