headlight problem

i have a 83 atc 200 and the headlight is very dim its a new bulb 45/45 watt and the wires are all great shape and the tail light is bright i checked all the conections and cleaned them thanks anything would be thankful

Check the handlebar switch. It may need cleaning oe replacing.

Try disconnecting your tail light and see if your headlight gets bright.

I have this problem on my 185s... if the tail light is on the headlight gets very dim.. I tried cleaning everything and it still does it with a new tail light...

If this is your problem, and you figure it out .. please let me know the solution ... for now I go without a tail light.

that worked thanks alot it works great maybe it is a weak lighting coil ?if it has one thanks again dave
