I don't understand everyone being down on the 400ex

I've been to atv drags the last 2 weekends and a 400ex has been the overall winner in the 400 class. I know rider ability has a lot to do with it, but the ex's never got smoked in any of the drags.

It's not that it is a bad quad, it's just outdated. Air cooled and no reverse. For $600 more you can get a Z/KFX 400 with reverseand liquid cooled with a fan. This is just my .02 from a 30 year old that wants some comfort.

Yah, I can see your point on new for new but you can buy a very nice 400ex for around $3000. I'm not trying to make everyone love the ex; I just think people don't give it the credit it deserves.

The 400ex isnt a bad quad but in stock form it bites. My buddy has a 440ex and that thing really rips. I think honda should bring out the crf450 in a quad chassis to make then more competitive.

I have a 2003 stock 400ex & I love it. I have had no problems at all. I have rode a z400 too & it is def.a bit better but I was ready to but at the time & that was the only one in the area at the tim. Still very happy with it.

the 400ex is the same as it was in 98, no changes. So in a way it is outdated. But it has proved itself like no other quad has done. this also means that there is a grip of upgrades (just look at exriders.com's project). Even tho the engine is outdated ive seen a piped one spank z400's and other 400 class quads. so there still in the running as a kick butt quad

    400ex

it is a nice middle of the class quad. but for speed and danger buffs there are better quads out there like the Raptor, YZF450, Banshee, DS 650, TRX 250r. when you get into a group of people that ride quads, bigger is better sometimes. but 400ex is still a good quad but not top notch.
