It was a good read but^^Exactly^^my point. Your telling me Honda....the Great all be all builder has an ACE in their back pocket and wanna sell off the rest of the inventory frist? OK and Yamaha put 2 bikes on the floor...side by side. Hmmmm that doesn't seem all that smart does it...Well not everyone will agree with the #1 guys decision...then again they did bring this tech4stroke to the masses frist. Then reinvented a winning 10yr old machine in a bad market. Hmmmm the 250R got retooled how many times in it's 10 run? Oh yeah the 400ex...my bad. Now that was a real powerhouse. Look the real fact is at least the bike will be made, and anything 2yrs from now will be better than today...Isn't that how it works to get us to buy NEW?

Actually, that sounds pretty smart & little sneaky too. If you have the 2011 version, and it's as awesome as this guy says it is, and the 2009-2010 version is sitting right next to it, which one do you think people will want to buy? Most likely the new & drastically improved model. So, what do you do to sell off the old stock? Drastically cut the prices on them. By holding off on the new models release, Honda can sell their current stock at normal prices, and then when the new model comes out, a lot of the same people that just bought a 2010 may just pony up the cash for a 2011 as well.

With KTM, Polaris, Suzuki and Yamaha all producing MX based machines it makes sense for Honda to join in. I'd like to see some teaser pics though.

Well RedRider You don't discount the OLD machine...but add the lost factor of the cost of the NEW product...The price difference will sell itself. MX based quad? correct...old model still apeals to the trial/mod guy with less money to spend. You offer a 3.5% finance on the OLD and Cash only 7.7% on the NEW. I think what is the most misturded angle is HONDA has an OVER RUN of 450R's...Do you think their sitting on 1million units at the warehouse? If you talk to experts and manufactures in the ATV industry...I bet the over all rating of the market is FAR better than the Economy. Utlities and the Side by side markets are carring the industry, sure. So why not market the NEW?......Dealers order the NEW product...so if you sell all kinds of bikes street to dirt type dealer and your BIG. Your not ordering anything in multipals anymore...speculate orders this yr will be at a min. Plus when the public has no money to burn....they don't race. I'd except that as an answer as aposed to selling parts frist. I'm just glad HONDA has some fight left...and wants to put out another possible winner...BRING IT! It only helps to improve the market WORLD WIDE>

What if it's in the April edition of Dirt Wheels, will you still believe it then?

honda is actually not selling or making any 2010 model trx450r's. They have tons of 07-09's sitting around. there is a shop in PA with 30 or more 2007 trx450r leftovers they are selling for $4000 or so

So i can believe what he was saying about honda waiting to bring it out till they rid of the older models first.

KTM is not bringing out and 2010 quads also due to the same reason as above.

There is no 2011 TRX450R. Talked to the Honda rep today. Too many 08-09's in warehouses.

They're dumb IMO for not producing a new 450R, the reason there are so many left overs is they are behind the times compared to other quads. Look at the KFX, LTR and YFZ 450R's they have aluminum frames, EFI, etc. The TRX was not even a consideration for me when I was looking for a new 450R because of this.

I wonder if the 450R will have a whole new look, will the fenders and such be totally different? I personally would like an old school look myself. They are selling off their inventory before they bring it out so it must be a sick looking ATV .

The racing ATV market is nearly dead. There are currently no factory teams that support atv's. All of the support comes from sponsorship outside of the factory. Pro riders salaries are not paid by the oem's either. Around my area atv racing is nearly dead due to the costs involved. There are already so many great hi-performance 450's on the market that they figure there really is no room for another. Leftover's from all brands are sitting and collecting dust even after prices have been drastically cut. How can Honda expect to make money when their msrp of an all new machine will be very high. Honda will never be able to duplicate the class leading and by all accounts the best 4wheeled racing atv ever made. The legendary 86-89 trx250R. Riding high off the great atc's they made, and the complete lack of competition in 88-89 meant they owned the market, and rightfully so. But as we know they dropped the most successful engine/chassis combo ever. Will Honda ever produce an all new racing platform atv? Probably so, but it just doesn't seem like it will happen anytime soon. Plus one that will completely the competition seems pretty far fetched to me. Aluminum frames and EFI doesnt change game. It only puts them in the now! My.02....

A Yamaha dealer told me that the factory riders were replacing the fuel injection on the YFZ450R with previous model carb. And that Yamaha was PO'd about the swap. Makes you wonder whether to believe all the hype about fuel injection.

For the record, Allen Knowles told me the same thing. Two very reputable sources...
