2011 TRX450R Might Be WICKED!

If Honda were smart, they would bring back the 250R two stroke in a limited run. The time is right as the two stroke market is booming right now. You can't even get your hands on a 2011 KTM 250SX unless you live on a coast. Everything between is sold out because people are excited about the new redesign and having a modern smoker.

But then again, Honda doesn't like two strokes.

P.S. I'm driving 300 miles out of my way this weekend, past a bunch of new 2009 YZ450F's with $4500 OTD writen on them, just to pay $6600 for a new KTM 250 smoker. The next closest one is 900 miles away.

Does anybody know what the current laws are on 2 strokes ? I was under the impression that they were not going to be allowed to sell new 2 strokes anymore? I have a 86 trx that I bought off the showroom floor for 2100.00 cash in nov 86 . Last year I decided to add a 07 trx 450r . Bought it used with only a few rides on it after the guy dumped a few grand in upgrads . I have been impressed with my 450r .It handles very similiar to my 250r and I ride it a 2 stroke . I must admit the bike does float a little side to side in the dunes, something my 250r never does .Not sure why I think it may be the sand tires I am running on it .I am doing a tires swap with the 250 to see if it makes a differense .

years back 06 was supose to be the cut off for all 2 strokes...well i think more so people wanted 4 strokes and they just got fazed out. honda dont make anything2 stroke but kawasaki, yamaha, ktm, husky, tm, gasgas and suzuki still do. i give it another 5 years i i bet we'll see some newer designed ones.

There was never a ban for 2006. It was just a rumor. And the EPA also had nothing to do with it. Otherwise yamaha and ktm wouldn't be selling 2 strokes like hotcakes now in 2011.

I wouldn't necessarily call it selling em like hot cakes...everyone in our dealership wants to caryr the new yamahas...but it's like jumping through flaming hoops to ger your hand on them.

ps....at 3999 a dealer is losing about 1200 bucks on the bike. There isn't nearly as much markup as most people think. Hell we wholesale hondas all day long...we only take a hit like that when they've been sititng a while.
