any tractor shop that sells or works on chain saws has perfect fitting metric rope.

Ive heard good and bad about the steel cable replacement rope. I perfer the good old rope myself. Bring in a small piece of your old rope to any local hardware, like ACE, Fleet Farm, Runnings, etc. And ask near the small engine dept for 6 feet (thats how much it takes) they sell it by the foot. The rope is made from nylon synthetics, and should have nearly zero stretch to it. It will cost less than 5 bucks when all said and done. Good luck!

I just match up the diameter of the rope with some nylon rope from a local farm store. Im good for awhile though, last time i bought a 100ft roll of it for about 8 bucks. Thats enough for about 15 pull starters and a hell of a clothes line!
