Question Stuck Axl - Need help???

It appears that the axl to my 250r is seized and will not come out. (just bought the bike and I am doing a rebuild). Any suggestions on how to get it out? Brake side....possibly both.

    Thanks

It is UNFORTUNATE that usually it's rust under the brake rotor splines.

I've bought some so bad that I had to use a cutoff wheel and slice it up, then split it. Most of the time half the parts get ruined.

I have good luck with oxy/acetylene and cut off wheels, not so good luck with PB Blaster and Aerokroil

All you guys putting stuff together have to prepare for the future, I see guys putting stuff together dry all the time. That stuff will lock right up with a bit of water...... Use water proof grease on anything you plan on taking apart again. Just cuz the factory didn't do it doesn't mean we shouldn't

DC is as good as advice as your going to get. i have never tried this on an axle. but it works wonders on stuck outer bearings. heat* the entire locked up section then spray Co2 on the axle. the sudden cold on just the axle might make it crack loose. works 99% of the time on bearings.

yes, that's exactly where I believe it is all seized up. I suppose I need to cut that spline off. Hope I don;t ruin the axle. Thanks for the tip.

Did you run the locknuts back toward the rotor far enough to get the other pieces out from under it? I believe it is the same as the axle on my 350x.

Turn the nuts all the wat back (toward the brake hub) under the larger nut there is a ring and c-clip, take those off, then drive the nut/fade nut/threads off of the axle.

I uses a ratchet extension and a to beat the brake hub off. Hope this helps, I just did this last week, still waiting on parts to get here for the rebuild

im guessing you have the whole bike together and are trying to get the axle out, take the whole axle apart, you can leave the stuff on on the sprocket side of the axle, and beat that sh!t out with a good , a rubber sledge does it really well

Thanks for all the replies. I soak it for the last week with release all and was able to get the first spline off. Now I am working on the brake disk. What a headache.

I had a tough time getting the axle out on my T3. I finally unbolted the entire carrier and removed it from the trike. Then i sat a piece of 4x4 on the cement floor and held the carrier and slammed that down on the 4x4 as hard as i could. Sure enough it poped right out
