    Newbie Question

Hey guys, I've browsed the forum and found a lot of helpful information, but I have one that hasn't been asked. I'm about to buy an '84 or '85 (He doesn't remember and the title is in the lock box) 200M that doesn't have a battery or owner's manual with it. Can anyone tell me what battery to buy for it? I rode trikes a lot when I was a kid, but this is the first I will have owned. I'm really excited about getting back into it. Thanks for the help!

    re:

Its a 12volt battery if you go to a place that sells batteries just tell them that you need a atv battery and thats it you will have the right one.

Did you ask that guy if the electric start works?

    I asked

Yes and it does. I'm buying it from my brother-in-law, so I can always beat him if it doesn't. -D

1st off welcome to the site. We hope you enjoy it.

You cheapest route would be to measure the battery compartment and then go to WalMart and get a 12volt battery that would fit. Buying one from a dealer will cost 2+ times what Walmart charges.

    Thanks

Hey, thanks for the info. I called another brother-in-law who sells batteries and he said he'd get me one at his cost, so I guess I'm all set. BTW, it's an '84 and needs some body work, but otherwise it's in great shape. His kids rode it some while they were still at home, then he used it as a farm workhorse. Fell out of the back of the truck one day and broke the front and left rear fenders and the headlight housing. He drove it into the shed and left it for 3 years. When I called about it the other day, he rolled it out, put new gas in it and after just a few pulls it started! I plan to change the oil, spark plug right off. Any other suggestions as far as maintenance I should do right away considering how long it's been sitting?

BTW, $175.00 cash! I'm gonna spend more in helmets for my son & I than for the trike!
