    250sx electrical problem

Hello I have an 85 250sx....It didnt have spark....I fixed that problem with a new coil.....In the process I found a couple of wires that were almost broken....I fixed them and now the machine runs but it has no headlights and the neutral light and reverse light dont work....Also I had a battery charger hooked up to it and when It was running it burnt up the charger....I would also like the mention the kill switch doesnt work to shut it off but the key does....anyone got any ideas....

check all your bulbs.you fried them probably, and there is probably a short somewhere in the harness.when the machine was running it made current and the charger put in current, too much.

Check down by the foot brake, on the bottom of the motor there are 2 plugs, one for the Neutral light, and one for the reverse light, they were off when I was diagnosing the same problem on my BR

If your good with a volt meter it's pretty easy to trace the circuits....

The SX is notorious for breaking wires at the CDI mounted on the battery box if it's been beat on. I use to jump allot, bending swingarms etc etc and when it started doing funky stuff, I found broken and bare wires at the CDI under the electrical tape, just a thought............

The connections at the clutch cover provide a ground, so there ought to be a hot at the light at all times, I'd have to look at the diagram to be sure.
