I'm partial to Honda.
What is the advantage of running steel valves? Everywhere listed is Titanium valves?
... I hate trying to buy something I know absolutely nothing about

steal are heavyer and last longer, reason you find old yamahs running with them with no head problems, new bikes get head problems and normaly a valve kisses the pisted and ends up well you know.
ive see 5 newer engines exploded appart like this.
the Ti valves stretch out and break off, and the head of the valve falls into the cylinder. they create more power, but they dont last long.
i wouldnt go anything older than 06, by then the oiling issues have been sorted out for the most part. the 09 CRF450 is junk, stay away.
The 07 kx450 is a solid bike, beat the bejeuses out of one for a season, no problems, other than Bent subframes, suckers have some Go'

There is a 07 for sale about 10 minutes from my aunt for $2500 and he will deal for cash. His dad is selling it for his son in college, and i'm thinking i might be able to run away with it for less than 2k

the only bas thing ive heard about the "10 KFX450 is it saws through chain sliders.
simple fix, one tooth UP in the front, 3 down in the rear to maintain same gear ratio, but to take the stress of the slider.
