125m top dead centre "T" mark

    Help!

I see the marks the thing I am not sure about is that the manual tells me to line up the "T" mark and my instincts tell me to line up the ......o mark before it.

    There are 4 marks o o

    why go against the book?

did you know the T stands for Top dead center......which is what your trying to find from what i see.

if you mean your not sure where to put the T on the mark, TDC is just that. line up the T and rotate the flywheel slightly till you find true TDC.

i bet you can answer this yourself.

    Hey,

No, it's not that easy. The other book I have shows a pic and the T is on the other side of a line which is lined up with the index mark, which is why I am questioning lining up the actual T, it makes sense to line up the witness marks before it which look like this ........o

I am just having a good think, do those marks mean that's when the valves are open???

Holster T stands for Top dead center as Swingin said. If you question then take a screw driver or something that can fit in the plug hole and slowly turn your engine over till screwdriver hits top and starts to go down. You will know what Top dead center is and if your Key isnt striped it will most definitly land on the T mark. Also the Cam lobes should be up then the piston is TDC. Both Valves should be closed. Hope that helps.

cam lobes down... dont stick anything down the cylinder just watch the intake valve rotating the flywheel counterclockwise(or using pullstart if its still on)stop at the T after the intake valve closes. if theres a line next to the T use the line not the T.
    also trust the manual...
