Exclamation 14/36 gearing info - my top speed

My stock 86 250r with 13/39 gears had a top speed of 65mph (using gps). And the gears felt really short. So when I restored mine from the frame up with added power I knew that 14/36 gears would be the answer. And believe me it is

Switching to 14/36, I did one run which I probably won't do again but the top speed was 85.4mph! with possibly a hair of throttle left. Dangerous? Yes

Its not all about the top speed, I did it so I could know. The best part is how I don't feel like I have to quickly shift through first and second to get going, the power is well spread out and more easily controlled. The extra power of course helps pull such tall gearing.

I use 14/36 on my 250r trike also, I find its easier to ride with it and less shifting. I use 18" tires too. I have +1 swinger and lrd 310pv, 39pwk, cr rad valve, cr250 ignition and swap between the atc5 and pt hi-rev pipe. I'm using a 85 bottom end. I don't know how fast it is, but it sure is scary, I hardly ever use 5th and 6th, most of the time, I'm in 3rd and 4th. Most mx tracks don't allow you to open up that much.

This is defiantly the case. I never even shifted into 5th or 6th ever until I had enough room and could safely see what this would do on top end. I just didn't expect it to add 20mph lol

I heard that going up 1 tooth in the front is equivlant to dropping 5 in the rear.

1t front = roughly 3t in the rear.
