    tri z exhaust question

    Hey

I got a used DG pipe from ebay and a new DG silencer from a different ebay seller. The pipe looks like it fits fine on the bike, but when I went to put the silencer on it just doesn't line up. I guess what I mean by that is that there is too much overlap.

Can you guys take a look at the picture and give me an opinion on this? The silencer came new in the bag and it did say it was for the tri z.

    Thanks for any help

    Blake

You have the silencer mounted in the wrong bolt hole. You are probably going to have to get a muffler hanger to off set the silencer.Ill try and get a pic of mine...

Thanks for the help Mike. I thought the dg pipe and silencer would mount right up without any other components. So you have a hanger on the muffler to help it hang off the stock muffler mounting hole thats farthest to the rear of the bike?

Where do you get one of those? I could probably make something, but would prefer not to as my stuff doesn't look too good.

    Thanks

DG probably dosent have the technology to make sure thier stuff lines up right... every one of them is probably a different length
na just kidding but you probly bought a dg silencer that matches up with the stock pipe not the DG?? just a guess..

^ You got that right! I swear most of this crap has to be spaced/shimmed out or another hole drilled and tapped etc etc.... And you can never get a straight answer such as - "can I use my stock pipe with your silencer and use the OEM mounting??" or " "do I need to run a DG pipe with this silencer"

Honestly, it's all cheap junk so they can make a buck.........

    ok..thanks for the replies guys.

Yeah...I wasn't really expecting this to be such a big deal. Buy the pipe/silencer and it works. Guess I'm glad that someone will still make something for the bike so I won't complain too loudly

I just use an exhaust hanger from pretty much any bike.I dont remember which one exactly. But a banshee one would work.Or even a blaster..

Pretty much!!! I have taken a few bikes apart and always save the hangers. You need different sizes all the time. But most times you can of-set/angle the hanger to make it work...
