I think that is why it wont start. Before it stopped working it started fine. Now you have to use a screwdriver to start it.

I started to have problems with it not starting. The start button isnt working any more and have to touch the little screws to get it to start. The screws that I am talking about are the screws to activate the solenoid. One guy asked me if I had a neutal indicator because he has seen alot of people have that same problem. THat is why I am asking. Might it be a wire or is it the indicator? Any help would be awsome. I am lost right now. If it is a indicator can I get a new one or can I just bypass it like I asked you? And How??
Try bypassing it then. Or try to get a new unit.
bypass it... you should be able to just bypass the sensor... it thinks its not in neutral and it wont start is what im gathering.... so you should be able to fond the wires coming from it and just cross them possibly

Dang, I forgot all about the electric neutral indicator. It does act as a "safety" switch to keep you from starting in in gear. Roger and Cam are right...it should not be a problem to just take the indicator out of the system. How you de-activate it depends on how it's wired up, and how the indicator works. You'll either have to jumper the 2 wires together, or leave them open.
By the way, I have an early 80's KZ/KLT 250 motor. Haven't had it all the way apart, but so far it looks like it will be good for parts, or maybe even for build. Have a few other parts too.

Sorry about the second post, but I forgot something. Try going to buykawasaki.com. I know they have parts schematics with part numbers, etc. for your Prairie, but not sure about wiring schematics.

maybe its a bad solenoid all together, when you press the start button do you hear the solenoid click? or do you hear nothing. if you here it click but nothing happens, its a bad solenoid. My geuss is that if the wheeler is in nuetral and the light is on, and when in gear the light is off at the handlebars then the nuetral safety switch should be good. try checking the fuse on the solenoid also

Huh. well he should eat my dust!![]()
Tore apart the bike last night and tried to find out where to bypass the switch with no luck. Anyone have any ideas on where to look and how to bypass it? Could the ignition modual be bad and if it is would the bike still start by touching the relay with a screwdriver.
