    Yep, the 12V automotive coil VS. the itty bitty stocker that fits under the tank. As long as it provides the fire is all that matters.

    gettin into it huh? nicer than what i started with for sure. Unfortunately i never took any before pics, but if you do a search you will find my 200e resto thread. Yea, i would try to avoid getting your tires through honda, I think the oem style tires are discontinued, but you should be able to match up the rears with something similar to the front.

    Really nice job there !
    I would really like to do a total rebuild of my Big Red..The problem over here is that parts for it is hard to come by..

    I will just try to get it as nice as possible with what i got. New set of tires and a bit of turtle wax will do the trick

    Does anyone know what the "connector" i found behind the headlamp does ?
    I would really like to know =)

    I didnt really buy much, just restored what was there, aside from cables, pads, and bearings. thats an accessory plug, should be mounted by the headlight somewhere, i'll check. All big reds have them, but I have never sen any thing that plugs into them.

    Allright, does it put out 12V or...what.. ?

    Tonight's progress ;

    Did not take a lot of pics tonight, simply forgot =) So you will just have to satisfy with some boring photos for now. The engine will get more attention when it's out of the frame, a bit more shiny won't hurt. Just got the worst off for now.

    Sounds like you may need to adjust those lifters. I'd bet it would run alot better.

    There was no airbox / filter on it when i started it plus it's the first time in like 5 years it's been started. Just wanted to check that it starts up and runs, now that i know that i can continue the work of picking it apart. The electric start did not work though..I'll check that later.
    This sunday i will get everything but the frame..erhm, what's it called, dont know the word. Shoot sand on the metal so the rust and paint dissapear.

    cox : Well i'm not married, but my fiance is patient with me. What does not show in the clip is the three other bikes i got down there. Nothing more on 3 wheels though

    The basement is kind of my little dungeon, i also built a home cinema down there.

    looks like a good start to a nice project.
    the connector you found by the headlight is a 12 volt accessory plug, honda made spotlights and a couple other accesories that plugged into it, they used that goofy style plug so only their hondaline accessories would work and you would have to buy all hondaline. most people take it off and put on a regular 12 volt dc cigarette lighter plug, you can find more info on that by doing a search on the forum for "accesory plug".
