A little electrical help - 84 110

I have a 79 110 with a 84 110 motor and electronics on it - so let's just talk 84 110 here. 1st off - I have converted both the head light and tail lights from the original 6V to the 1982 and up 12 volt (headlight I keep blowing is 30/35W 12V) I have also noticed that the 84 110 has no regulator. I keep blowing headlight bulbs. Put one in it and it gets super bright - then blows. I have robbed 2 bulbs from a TRX450R headlight and one from a 350X headlight. Are my bulbs too low wattage? What is stock headlight wattage for an 84 110? My next step is to see what kind of voltage I have at the headlight wires with my volt meter.

Any ideas??????

do you think it is blowing because it is a 30 watt bulb?
