250r with lrd adjustable pipe leak leak leak

any tricks to get a LRD adjustable pipe to stop leaking at the seam ?

i have exhaust leaking and its making a mess. i tried RTV high temp on the out side but it just blew off.

it is also leaking at the seam for the silencer is there supposed to be a clamp on that ?

    thanks for any help

I have a PT sectional pipe on Both My R's.

Take the pipe apart, and clean the inner part real good with some sand paper and brake cleaner, and also the mating piece of the second pipe.

Use Permatex Ultra Gold Hi heat RTV.
It has to have copper in it.Says it right on the tube
    .

Lay a nice thin layer on both parts of the pipes, and slide them together.Wipe the excess off the outside when assembled, like caulking your bathtub.

Let them dry over night before you fire it up.
That should hold. It does for me.

Where the silencer meets the pipe, you should have a rubber collar with 2 clamps there.
That should stop that mess for you.

The proper exhaust couplers are available on Ebay, Thru dennis Kirk and other suppliers.

Myself, I just go to a auto parts store, or hardware store, and buy the proper sized diameter of hi heat rubber tubing , cut it to length, and put 2 hose clamps on them.
    Those work fine for me.

The LRD on my ATC leaks, Its just one of those things, i dont think they will ever seal completely. Other Trx pipes have larger flanges around it to help it seal better because they arnt adjustable.

i used black high heat rtv on my lrd, no leaks yet. you have to take the pipe apart, and clean both ends. put the rtv on and slide the 2 pipe halfs together. let it dry completely and it should be good for awhile.
