350X engine in TRI-Z? PLEASE HELP...

Please, bear with me guys. I have a TRI-Z and would like to put an ATC 350X engine, that I don't have yet, in it. I have searched, but have come empty handed.

    -Will the engine fit?
    -Has anybody done it?
-What will it take to do it, if at all possible.

Please, don't tell me to put a Z or YZ engine in it, I want a 4 stroke that is not really expensive (read, no YZF 250 engine). I think that could be a real nice trail bike.
If you know or have any info on this, I would love to hear about it.
Suggestions about this swap (this swap only) will be greatly apreciated.
Would love to hear the TRI-Z gurus and the people who have done projects like this have to say and what do you suggest.
If this is not possible, I'll be parting the Z.
    TORKER.

I know you said no yz250f motors but that would make a way faster trike then a 350x. The motor would cost twice as much is the bad part.

from looking at peoples Triz's over the years i dought it will work without major frame mods.

Thanks for the replies guys. Currently I'm trying to buy the engine from a member.
I'll be asking lots of questions, so your help will be absolutely needed.
This is something I feel I need to do. A great, 4 stroke, trail bike.

The YTZ 350 project is a GO!!!
    What do you guys think???

    TORKER.

I'll be posting the 86' 6spd TRI-Z engine (and everything else) in the classifieds, in case your interested.

IDT any of us can do any better than the Yamaha 4 strokes. Allot of cash for a motor/electronics/carb but well worth it and seemingly quite reliable.......

But, a 350X is a great powerplant. I LOVE mine and I can't kill it, beat to snot, upside down in an ice cold river on and on. And I STILL see no need to use any of my crate motors and or parts from them.

Keep in mind your location and difficulty of obtaining parts. Any motor in a Tri-Z frame meant for a gas tank NOT MOUNTED there, could be a bit of hell.

Honestly though, I'm not sure what dimensions TriZ frames actually have, I've always "assumed" you can't get a tank up there. I think they have a perimeter type frame, not a single downtube which limits fitment. I LIKE perimeter frames, thay have GOT to be stronger than a single downtube.....

I imagine it's just tough to tough to add newer models parts to older ones or stuff from one old model to another old model.

I hope you can get something together that you enjoy

Obtaining parts it's not really dificult, unless, it's a hard part to get.
I think a 350x engine is a great trails engine, mount it in a race chassis instead of a back braker and you have a great bike. I don't know yet about the fuel tank, If I can use the stocker I will. Still trying to find an affordable 2.5 gal fuel bladder for the Z.

^ Bare in mind, I'm just pickin your brain....

If you can get stuff fairy easy, why not get a whole 350x?? t doesn't hurt me much (aside from the bruises and pain for 2 days after a good ride w/ the boys ), but I can't jump HUGE without a nice landing and I doubt a 350X motor in a Z chassis could either.

I'm just not sure if that 100lb 350X motor with alkl the mods will get you what you want. We probably both want the same thing, it's just too much $$ to build.........

i dont really see any advantages here other than messing up a tri-z frame. If you want a nice trail bike then get a 350x or a 200x and mod it. 250r forks(or inverts) and a rear shock would do wonders for the 350x. A tri-z can be trailable with the right pipe or even a stock pipe, as can any 2 stroke, may not be as easy as just putting around with a 350x motor but very able.

I cant think or a better way to make a Yamaha reliable.
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it.

    Don't Do It!

Yo Dawg, like you must be tripping homeboy. Gonna mess up a Yammie with a piece of recycled scrap iron stuck in the cage like that. Do you think I'd bread my State Championship Heifer with a scrawny goat just so my cow can go round saying Maaahhh! I've heard of evolution but going backwards mann...I mean backwarrrrds. You need to get righteous and show that Yammie some respect...at least get a ytm 200 and bore it. Don't do it bro, or your kids will be born with two heads. Imagine Bill Clinton's head and Mike Tyson's head on the same body. I wouldn't do that if I was on crack. Think about it..pray about it... go talk to a priest... Dr. Phil..Jenny Jones ...Mr. Spock says it's just not Logical....

...somebody give me some more kleenex so I can wipe these tears..aaauuuhhhhh
