Project counter balanced cr 500 engine

Gday Gday from down under,Geeeezz its been to long since ive been on here there are some great threads to read.Last time i was around was when i was building the laydown r engine.God the amount of questions and emails over that are crazy lol.Well enough of that heres my new project I know its not a trike but i think yas will understand.after building this (trx 500r)and realising it was almost unrideable because of the overwheling amount of vibrations due to the harmonics of the project and of course no counter balancer.heres a few photos of the build any way i wont tell you the whole story as ill post a link to the thread on my local atv forum i think there will be alot of interested cr500 pilots for this one and yes its almost finished cheers heres the link to the whole read :

And to those who couldnt bebothered reading lol heres a coulple of pics cheers

I really do reccomend reading the other link as its way to long to explain and it will explain all those photos for the people sitting there going what the hell is this bloody aussie bloke talkin about lol.all i can hope is i pull this thing off which i believe honda should of done in the first place. And to all those people being gullable (like me)and thinkin 500cc 2 strokes dont vibrate well i hate to say it but they do and in a quad its x10 not sure on trike i know it would be better than quad but i still beleive they are bad?? oh well im off for more head schratchin lol cyas hope you like.

Nice way of thinking outside the box. How are the bearings going to be lubricated? Maybe just packed with bearing grease and seals on each side? The vibration in a trike seems to be very minimal over a quad. The trike frame lets the motor do its harmonical thing.

I think everyone has thought about it atleast once, but doing it is a whole nother thing! Awesome project, can't wait to see it completed. Just as nuts as the laydown 250R motor I'm sure.

The bearings will be lubricated by the normal gearbox oil as all this is still inside the case.

Oh ok. I was under the impression that the setup was going to be a "out in the open" setup.

now THAT is innovation. two thumbs up!!

how are you going to determine the needed weight got he counterbalancer?

only problem i can see is if the counterbalancer will be inside an addition to the case, i would think the counterbalancer being submerged in the trans oil all the time will create some pretty drastic drag, not to mention the tornado action that will be created by the CB spinning may agitate the oil too much, mix too much air in too fast and create a frothy mixture.

    Damn nice work there Mart.
I'll be keeping up with your progress.
I have a great interests in this. I also have a TRX500R. One that I've been messing with the vibration problem as everyone else.
Any thoughts of doing this to others engines?

Gday mate, yeh im very interested in doing more of these cases this is why at this stage im hoping it works with just this weight because it only requires 1 side of the case to be able to do it.Post up some photos of your 500 and ideas youve come up with id love to see em mate cheers

I did this build once before and it vibrated terrible because of the geometry of the frame..good luck on this,,way to use your head!!!
