I consider them rare. there was only 3??? made from what i understand. Of course they are not as rare as alot of the things we collect.
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I dunno about that guy, But I do consider them rare, they were a short-lived machine and if you take a count of who has a 86-87 200x as compared to a ... 350x that was made for 2 (technically 3) years, tell me which ones you find more of. There is one for sale in the classifieds, that if i had the cash, I would love to go and pick up.

    production numbers - 1986 200X - 19,130 - not so rare

    and the, as this guy states it "non-rare" 1987 200X - 3,538
    Followed by the 1987 ATC250ES - 4,889

far less than pretty much any other ATC ever made.

In other words - only about 70 per state in the USA - take in account how many have been parted out and just plain scraped - there are prolly about 30 - 40 left in any given state. I would say that is pretty rare. I like numbers - so the state of Pennsylvania had 12,482,279 people living there according to the 2008 census. That means in Pennsylvania - only about 1 in every 355,665 people own one.

    Seems kinda rare to me.

I agree the 87 200X falls into the "rare" category. Not Tiger rare but as far as a production trikes rare enough.

That CL ad is actually from someone responding to the other 1987 200X CL ad for sale in Princeton NJ. He states how rare it is in his ad.

I consider both the 86 and 87 200x pretty rare, at least around here.

The original site with the actual numbers seems to be down right now - hopefully not for good. The website basically stated the beginning VIN to the ending VIN for each given year.

At the end of May it was a $400 parts bike. Motor was out of it but was all there. The guy did a good job and a complete motor rebuild to boot. It's a deal. And yes I think they are rare.

That was a response to somebodys ad of a 200x where they obvioiusly said it was rare. Thats what the RE: in the beginning is all about. So some know-it-all which i would bet resides on one of the forums decided to post that intellectual response for their own personal gratification. Theres rare (87 200x, tiger 500, cagiva) and then there is whats called Never been seen yet (87 350x/250r). there is a difference IMO.
