Well I think I am going to go through with this one. Its going to be the last one I need to build.I swear. It seems the 500 mod is some what easy to do. And since the frame has had some tweaking done to it I think it needs some guessets and that 5 huny. Now first off they say it fits right in and just need to fab up new motor plates. Upper or the front or both. It is a 84 or 85 model motor, buddy couldnt remember, which makes this project even better.
Now as far as the pipe goes. There is just some slight fabbing needed to be done to the pipe to allow it to fit. Another build showcased the forward kick. Im a Tecate fan,Not a fan of forward at all so back wards for me. I have the trx 250r shock "year not known" Ill take pics. I am missing 1 piece of the suspension. I have the dog bone but seems it is shorter the the atc one. The swing arm is in mint shape and anyone know what other bikes carriers/ axels will fit. And I will say this. I never built anything from scratch like this. I have put together a few projects but its like lego. This one will be with out plans. And it will be built on a serious LOW budget. But not to over look detail. The motors X2 are all apart and god knows if anything is missing, but one has a newish crank and will need a piston. Not sure if they have plated cylinder or not. Dont even know what Id like. sleeve means its allready done and hopefully not out of bores.
Wow this is going to be a long topic. And I hope this build will shed some hope to others to build one.

Ok more indepth pics. The first 4 are where the frame has been compremised. 3 small cracks a missing motor mount wil a hole in the frame and the cross bar where it is kinked. So alot of work is needed to the frame.

Also there appears to be a few soft spots in the frame as well. Not worried at all, altough it is a honda. The next pics are my inventory or parts.
    1 1985 frame Needs work
    1 swingarm Good condition
1 trx 250r rear shock. Unknown year "ANYONE"
    1 tail light
    1 trx 250r dog bone
    rad mounts
    1 rad guard
    1 destroyed swing arm bolt

    Is it worth it?

^^^^^^^^^ I was thinking the same thing, If there was water in there to freeze then there will be lots of internal rust as well (soft spots).

Theres alot more to it than just making up new motor mounts to slam a cr 5 in that thing,............

Ive seen a few builds and that seems to be the hardest thing to do. I know I am missing a few details but with out anything more to work with this is all I can come up with. Yes the frame might have frove. No idea how long it was out side for. Is that why there are those little cracks? The front crack I can see but the other 2 are in a some what sealed parts of the frame. Is there anything That you could add about this build?

Yeah it definitely got water in it. Might want to tap on the frame rails with a to give you some idea of how much rust is inside.

Major update. Buddy of mine got some pics with his camera. This was the night i started fixing all the hacked up stuff. My nightmare. First off. The cdi box was moved back by the voltage regulator. The regulator was bolted to the side of the air box. The air box only has 2 clips for the top. It has some sort of cr pipe made to fit. As well as a mysterious dg silercer. I had a 250r silencer that I cut up to work on a tecate. The rear end. What can a fella say... good suspension a 4 gallon Whits ims tank white maire fenders. A sx head light. Second 250 i have owned with this mod. The base gasket was blown leaking oil. Kick starter spring broken and kicker was wore that bad you kicked in twords the motor. It has a hot rod cank and was told it is out of a trx. The cdi blew out on me so now it has a 1983 250r box on it. Painted it a baby ble and has red shock cover that came off a chevy truck. Those pics will be later. These are all befor I restored it back to a driver anyway.
    Befor pics

Well the bike has looked like this for a while. I threw a half a can of spray bomb on it to rid it of the red paint. I was broke when i got it so funds are just starting to collect to help build this beast back up.
I like the color scheme. Im not a big fan of the red 250rs. No painted plastic anymore. And the chevy shock covers look great. Oh and did i mention I like that big ol tank.

Hats off to Adam for finding this deal. Its not much but is a good start. Its not mint and has 3 broken off bolts. 2 in the triple trees that hold the handel bars on. Friggen hondas. Never had one that never had broken off bolts. Looking at the frame closer. I realize it is not as mint as I hoped. The down tube has been repaired. Was this a common problem? There is a nice 1985 cr 500 That I would love to own right now but am broke. Glad its a 1985 to match my tecate 3 as well as I have heard good things about the 1985 model. Anyways here are the pics.
