I used a helicoil in a motorcycle once with no problems whatsoever. This was probably 6 yrs ago and i believe it costed me 25$ or so at my local auto parts store. They should have the correct size. Just make sure to be careful and drill the hole as straight as possible with the factory threads. Some plugs go in at an angle. It may be cheaper to find another head though. Check around on here ill bet someone has one laying around.

heli coils work great. I have once actually heli coiled a heli coil for an exhaust manifold bolt on a 600hp diesel engine. Take your spark plug to an automotive parts store and they should be able hook you up. Put grease on your drill bit and use a vaccum to suck up metal debris. Also put grease on the tap to collect the metal debris. If you do the job with the piston near tdc, any debris that ends up in the cylinder can be vaccumed out with a small peice of hose on the end of the vac. Small fuel line or plastic synflex works great. I put loctite on the thread insert outside threads, then put a light coat of oil or grease on the install tool. Use a real light coat, so that the grease will not run through to the outside threads on the insert and affect the loctite. The grease is actually to prevent the loctite from sticking to the inner thread from bleeding through.
Put one in and forget about it! No worries they work extremely well!
please take the head off the machine before installing a helicoil.dont drill on the trike or bike or lawnmower or what ever.

Take the head to a machine shop.. It cost me $20 for them to put one it and they guarantee it.. I had one in my VW for 50,000 miles now that they did.
thanks for the suggestions guys!
