    125M Sprockets?

I'm figuring that since I have made ZERO progress on tearing the motor out of my 1985 125M and putting it in the ATC70 roller I have I would take care of a couple of things and have the M as a community trike for the winter. The one thing it needs more than anything else is a chain and sprockets. I can find the rear sprocket and the chain without a problem but I can't find the front one anywhere. Anyone have any suggestions other than the dealer?

I've yet to see a sprocket that Sprocket Specialists don't have.

That's what I thought too but go to their site and look one up for a 1985 125M. They have the rear but not the front.

I had to buy one of those for the 125m I had. Most expensive front sprocket I ever bought! And biggest pita to install too.

Thanks for the ebay links. I actually found that used setup a little earlier tonight, it happens to be the guy I bought a radiator for my 4x4 from. If I can't find anything else I might have to go with the one in the first auction.

It looks like it isn't going to be fun, Rob. Is there anything in particular I should look out for?

Just make sure when you take the subtransmission apart you pay attention how it goes. When I put it back together I didn't quite get it right and I couldn't switch high to low.

Any gaskets I should order? How about the bushings that go on either side of the sprocket? I'll probably just pull it apart before I even order the sprocket.

Yeah I would pull it apart and see what gaskets break or other parts you need to order. I remember I had to get a new side case gasket, but that is because the existing one was made out of cereal box cardboard by a crafty previous owner!

I'll probably go that route. I think I have a decent sized garage lined up that I can rent from a neighbor for pretty cheap. That'll give me room to do some of these jobs I have waiting. Its too cold/dark outside and even though the shed is pretty big, its filled with the trikes/quads/streetbike/toolbox.

It is probably the same front sprocket as the 1982-83 ATC-200E Big red. You need to dissamble the subtransmission and you need a new gasket. I ordered mine in December and I got it 3 months later...

It might be similar but the 85 125 has a horizontal motor (like a 90) so it probably is different. I'll look it up tomorrow. I'm heading out to a Christmas party. FREE BOOZE!! WOOHOO!!!
