    I've almost had it

I can't get my big red to run right for anything! I put my stock jet back in, dropped the needle and it still ran rich. Screwed both mixture screws all the way in and started over. Can't get the mix right. If it stays at high idle for a few seconds after letting off the throttle, it's lean right? I've read the whole thing on "jetting made easy" or whatever it is and I'm still pissed off. Any tips? I'm trying to get it ready for the LA dunes this weekend.

It doesn't help that it's 400 degrees outside!

4 stroke, aint it? Check valve clearance when its hot. Yeah, lots of time the high idle after chopping the throttle = lean, but valves can do strange things. If you lean it and it doesnt help, check to see if you have good spark. Weak fire can load it up. Float could be leaking too.

If you check the valve clearances when hot you will not get a corret measurement. Always check them when cold and set them to Factory spex. Not tryng to start a argument. Just stating correct info.

Howdy, my statement was made for a reason, from 10+ years experince with Honda valvetrains. It is a fact that certain Honda valvetrains tighten with engine heat, as the engine ages.

The Honda 4's (360-750K) all do this. IN an old engine, if the valves are set to cold factory clearance, they leak when hot and lose engine power.
