    changing rim color?

hello im getting ready to redo my rims they are silver im thinking anodized i want to change the color to maybe gold what would be the best way to go about this where the end result will be nice and not chip off after a few rides, i will sandblast them would powder coat work? i dont have one but maybe i can get them done? was thinking painting i got a sprayer never used automotive paint so im thinking i would really mess that up, i helped my neighbor repaint his snowblower about 4 years ago we used a paint i think it was called xo rust or something like that we had to use some kind of thinner to get it to spray thru my gun, i know it took like four days to dry completely but when it was dry im thinking it was a pretty durable finish and still looked really nice when he moved, im thinking spray paint would come off quick not sure but seems like it. any ideas would be great. also am going to do the forks same time. thanks kris

hello i have a woodstove in my garage so i can heat her up for a day pretty cold now tho has you know, it seems powder coating it would make it very durable been looking at the p coating kits i only have 110 volts so an electric oven would not work and im thinking you cant use a gas oven? so paint may be my only choice unless i send the rims to someone to powdercoat for me? thanks kris

I have seem many painted and powder coated wheels and they both scratch easily but paint is far worse.

Your best bet would be to get them anodized gold with PC being a second place choice.

Powder coating should hold up very well, and if they're aluminum, anodizing is a great way to keep color in place and that stands up mint because it's like a dye...........

It could cost 60-100$ to PC tem in which case - just get new rims.............

Quick fix is just a spray can but be prepared to keep on them repainting etc etc.

i painted my rear rims on my wheeler.. and there holding up just fine.. i used vht epoxy paint, satin black, iv got something like 10-12 ours of ride time on them and no scratches or chips yet..

BUT yes anodizing or powder coating are the best way.

Three wheeler guys probably have the biggest balls out of all the ATV/Motorcycle riders. You just have to be a little twisted to ride them, and you have to be a great rider to do so.
