i posted the links where the KX500 owners used both KX250 and KX125 electrical systems. Yes the timing curves are likely different as i know they are between a LT500R and LT250R. But this does not change the fact people successfully used other complete electrical systems on the KX500.

You are asking to mix the KXT250 CDI with the KX500 stator and flywheel, most people dont mix these parts but you are welcome to try.

The stator output and possibly the flywheel from 1986 KX500 was the same as 1986 KXT250.

no i was thinking of mixing KX250 cdi and harness with the kx500,of coarse this is only if he didnt send me the kx5 cdi, which he may have.......im just trying to get my ducks in a row in case i need some parts,i hope to have this pretty much finished up bt the end of the week,so i dont wangt to be doing all this research at the last minute

to me the stator and flywheel will just produce the current and the CDI will time it, but here is the problem I see with that: how will you set the timing? the mark on the stator is for KX500, the spark will fire at timing for KX250, using degree wheel and TDC will put you where?

Timing is something I wouldnt play around with unless you have lots of time to tinker and knowledge of setup. Yes there are people that have put complete kx250 ignitions on Kx500's but you will need degree wheel and timing light. And alot of times you never hear a long term ride report to conclude if it was a true success or not. Too much advance, not enough retard and vice versa on different models ignitions make for extreme savvy tuning, sure it can be done but for the safest and best situation right from the start would be what the Kawasaki engineers did the work for us already with the original K5 ignition.

The original KX500 ignition is the way to go and the easiest. The guy who built the fastest KX500 in the world swears by the OEM ignition parts for the average user.

I agree, plus it will be easier starting and you can add a lighting coil no problem when the time comes.
