well i have a 87trx 250r with a 87 atc motor in it tb06e case numbers and starts with 800 tag vin it has the long connecting rod so that proves its not a 85 or 86, but just wondering what if someone ordered a new 250r motor from honda for a trx 250r i bet they would end up getting a atc motor, confusing cause the tb06e stands for 3rd generation 250r on the case but the 800 means its 87 theres no possibility for a case swap because the numbers pointing at a specific machine, lost

oops my bad i went out n looked a little better in the daylight cleaned some crap off the side case which had alot of build up of chain lube n dirt i was wrong i don't have a bigfoot TE06E which acording to the chart will make it a 88 or 89 which makes me a little happier to know its a long rod for sure that'll make her have more of a longer stroke. My machine has a newer motor on a 86 frame which happens alot motor swaps peeps will get atc motors and put em in the trx frames. I do beleive there is 87's out there that were released into the public the problem is the people who have them have no idea what they got and the raretty of there machine sitting in a shed covered up with junk.
Also those 87 R decals on the shrouds have a WHITE Background! Those are def. 87's.!!

ok i have a question for ya i have a 86 trx 250r my motor numbers casted into the case are tb06e wich makes it a 3rd generation motor right. but my riveted plate is gone so now is there anyway of finding out what year my motor is besides pulling it apart. the other qusetion is there any diferences in the cylinders from a 85 to a 86 in any way like porting or port timing, connecting rod length anything like that. ok by mine being a tb06e does that make mine a 85 and 86 or one or the other, thanx
I have a 1987 bigred 250es. dose anyone know how many were build.
i have the honda epc disc and there is indeed an 87 atc250r on it....no mention of a key/switch but the code for the plastics is white

there was someone on ebay a few years ago selling brand new 350x engines that were taken from 1987 trikes that were diassembled when new. i dont have any proof of this , but the vin numbers on the engines were a dead giveaway. i was going to buy one but could not afford it. oh well!
Hello guys! Is the 1987 250R a rare motorcycle? And where can I find the spare parts for it besides 3WW shop? Thanks!![]()

Has anybody noticed that the 250r in this pic http://www.3wheelerworld.com/attachm...2&d=1263417697 (brochure) is exactly the same as this one http://www.3wheelerworld.com/attachm...4&d=1263420295 (magazine) , other than the background? The wheel/hub placement, angle, cables, reflection in the rims, everything, even the shadows under it. a small blurb from the January 1987 edition of 3Wheeling magazine. You can click on it to read it yourself, but it says that the 87 models WERE available in Canada(Nova Scotia where i live) after all! You'll notice that this looks to be a studio shot, probably for a brochure or some other type of literature, but the background is definitely different from the original 1987 model line up brochure we have above. So was this a publicity shot that was taken in Canada, or Japan, or possibly even here at American Honda, before the Consent Decree took placeThe background is different because the magazine obviuosly changed it for SOME reason. A "US Service man stationed in Canada" conveniently shot the photo, my.I am a huge 250r enthusiast, having owned 6 of them through the years, and now building another, and wish there were 87's out there.if somebody finds one, i'll eat a
