Nice article.I was also talking with my local Honda dealer,He was selling trike back in the 80's,He said that he received and sell ATC up to the middle of 1988.they cange 2 time of location since this time so he said that all poster and brochure were trashed... It is possible that there is 88 model here in quebec?(like the 88 SuperRed in Australia)?? Or maybe it was 87 model....

Very nice write up on the 87's! Laid out in a professional and easy to understand way that lets the individual decide for themself. No doubt the speculation on the truth, will forever be in question. Kudos to 3ww...

These pics surfaced a few years ago of white rear fenders and radiator shrouds on an 86 250R in Japan. They aren't Maier, either. The fit and finish of the shrouds is purely Honda, and the fenders have the brace boss molded into them, something Maier has never been able to do. The argument about them being painted was raised, but it's obvious they are white all the way through. You can see the shroud decals' outlines through them, which is impossible with painted plastic. Speaking of the shroud decals, they are exactly like the ones shown on the brochure. Their originality was debated, but they have a typical flaw of the era: the red and blue over-lap makes a purple spot. Most, if not all, reproduction decals correct this flaw. You can also see the outline of their white background if you look close. IIRC, the original poster claimed to have bought them at a Japanese dealer using the factory part numbers for the 87 items. I guess they prove that Honda at least made some replacement parts before the ban, hinting that complete models could have been sold. It's odd that the parts found so far have all been for a 250R with nothing for a 350X. Yet...

WHOA, I've never seen those pictures before, holy crap! I guess I'll have to add them to the article. How did you run across them, from that Japanese ATC site that was linked here a couple years ago?
