    cr80 trike

I got a 98 cr80 frame motor and front end and ive been thinkin about turnin it into a trike but i dont know what swing arm to use or how i would need to brace and gusset the frame to keep it from breaking. Also what front end would work the best?

There was an 80R at trikefest when I went and that kid could not be beat. It was a really good build and everyone was impressed with it. They are members on here but not sure who it is. Do a search and maybe you can talk with them to get help on your build. Good luck. Always liked the idea of 80cc 2 stroke trikes.

The 80 bike to trike conversion that meatbox is talking about is the conversion Mudddogsrestoration made.
He is doing kits for folks to buy to be able to do it.
Get ahold of sandpuppy of Muddogsrestoration, better known as Roger and he will hook you up with info and parts.
He is also the fella doing up this years 350 X 2010 RAFFLE trike It is gonna be a nice one too !

I remember all the conversion kits you could buy in the 80s, I always thought it was kind of BS that like a CR,YZ,KX,RM, or whatever your poison is, 80cc MX bikes breathe fire compared to like any of the factory 70-80-90cc atvs (3 or 4) that ever were available. I mean the way I understand it the intended user would be about the same age group.

As far as the front end I would probably check all the factory welds and maybe some well placed reinforcement, but I shouldnt be that big of a deal. Are you making this a smaller trike, or something full sized? The sub frame will have to be heavily modified or a custom one made. For fenders I would look into the 250ex or even the trx90. The swing arm you may be able to use the trx450r swing arm depending on how wide the pivot bolt section of your frame is. The easiest way would probably be to use the cr80 swinger modify it to use the honda style carrier, deffinately will need to be strong though and possibly extended. Jason Hall did a cr80 conversion using an 85/86 atc250r frame and that would probably be the easiest way to go but I would also most likely permently change a 250r frame which I would have to think long and hard about, it may be possible to just change motor mounts. I would PM Jason or maybe he will chime in here soon.

i found a guy that is using a 200x front end he said it bolts right on but i might need to steepen the angle of the rake and a slightly modified 350x swinger

ok got some work done tore down the entire motor and got the crank out ( aint bad for a 15 year old mechanic) waiting for the original CR80R Front end and front brake assembly to sell so i can buy the parts to rebuild the motor. Anybody need a set of forks and front brake assembly off a 98 CR80R will sell it all for $215 + shipping
