    Advice/??? youth quads

My kids are 10 y/o and I want to get them a used quad to trail ride. They have pretty much no experience riding anything motorized. I know I want one with front and rear suspension and e-start would be nice.

I've found the trx90, lt80, and kfx80 but I'm sure there are more that I don't know of. The lt and the kfx seem to be the same machine just different manufacturers. I believe the lt and kfx 80 are 2 stroke oil injected and full auto. Is the trx a 4 stroke with a four spd auto-clutch?

Please tell me the pros and cons of these machines.

I am steering clear of china knockoffs as I've heard nothing but bad things about them. What other models should I be looking for?

    Looking for advice and opinions.

    Thanks

Isn't the TRX125 the same chassis as the 90? I found a TRX125 for my nephew. I haven't found any cons yet but a pro over the 90 would be the fact that it has reverse. Why they don't incorporate that into ALL ATVs is beyond me.

I have owned 2 LT80's and 1 trx90. Both are great machines. Yes LT and KFX are the same. Lots of others out there also, Polaris, eton, and many others, I think most are built by Eton and rebadged. One thing I wanted was one with foot operated rear brakes, little kids hands can't operate hands brakes very well.

For a girl I would go LT80 all the way unless they are an aggressive rider, my daughter is a flower picker. Over all the TRX is a better machine as far as suspension, rideability. I think 06 was the first year the trx had e start.

Don't forget about the Yamaha Breeze and Badger, at the age of 10 the 90 will be boring fast. Both of my kids moved up at that age but they got there LT80's at 4.

you also have Raptor 90's, and the predator 90's. the predator 90 is 2 stroke, the raptor is 4 stroke i believe.

I have also heard good things about E-Ton. they have been around since i was a kid, and probably longer, so they are doing something right.

My son started on a 83 atc70 when he was 4yrs old. Then he moved onto a 87 Trx70. He was getting a little to aggressive on it and needed suspension. I just upgraded him to a 2000 Trx90. He loves it. Very nice little quad.

My 7 year old daughter was out killing her Kazuma Falcon 90 all day on the ice yesterday and for another hour today. I think for a 10 year old it'd be a little small and maybe a little underpowered but only if they were experienced riders. I have the throttle stop screwed in quite a bit but its studded up and she was shredding the ice and sliding it like us big boys.

Overall the quality of the Kazuma is OK. The fuel petcock started to leak on the normal setting but reserve is OK. I have to order a new one, its only like $15. Other than that my only complaint is the relatively small fuel tank. Its got dual A-arms up front, full rear suspension, electric start, and disc brakes all around that all work off a pedal by her right foot. Its a great play quad and for $750 you can't beat it. If the kids want to go MX racing then I'd go with something better.

My boy is riding a 250ex, he got it almost 3 years ago, he will be 12 in June. It is a great machine it has the sport clutch. I love riding it too, I give my little guy rides on it.

We also have a Kymco Mongoose 250 that is also a great machine but not near the machine the honda is, but my daughter rides it and she doesn't want to shift and she thinks its great. It is actually more comfortable to ride then the honda, it also has plenty of power.
