buying a 250R

okay so my friend nows a guy thats is selling a 250r not shure what year it is but i do no that it is liquid cooled so at leasta 85?<--i may stand correct that they started in 86. but any ways i was just wondering what are some good questions to ask about these besids the basics has it ever been raced....blahblah blah. like what is the most comon thing that goes wrong with these, things i should relly look at closley like swing arm??? any help would be great. dont wanna get bent over like i did on my 200s

they started in 85. I would check the chain and sprockets, carrier, and compression

Make sure the forks aren't bent or the rear of the frame by the grab bar. Check the rear axle for straightness, check the engine cases for cracks or damage (underneath or from a thrown chain). If possible, jack it up and check for side to side play in the swingarm and the front wheel bearings. Do a compression test if you can.
