Thread: 200s still wont stop leaking?!? Im pulling my hair out!

    200s still wont stop leaking?!? Im pulling my hair out!

    I got all the rust out of the tank and put a filter on it, nothing is getting past the filter its doing a great job, but the stupid carb still leaks gas and the wont shut off, its clean nothing in there, needle seems to be working good, but the leak persists no matter what i do, and if i block off the overflow then it just backs up into the carb and floods it out or runs out where the carb goes into the airbox boot.....


    Please someone help me, it did it with the old OEM carb and still doing it with the brand new chinese knockoff that i bought for it.... I really want to fix so i can ride, im desperate!! AND baffled i know there can only be a number of factors contributing to it but i have gone over them allready....

    It does it any time that the petcock is turned on, stops after the petcock gets turned off and the float bowl drains, but when you turn it back on it leaks out the bottom again....

    did you try adjusting the float until it stops leaking,i mean extreme bends to see if it will even seat the needle all the way? just throwing ideas at you. with the carb off the bike take the bowl off and hook the carb to the gas line and see if you can push the float up and seat the needle.

    is the needle and seat valve warn out (the little rubber seat for the needle) causeing a bad seal therefore leaking? ALSO i have had this happen now that i think of it, take your float out and make sure its still floating properly, i had a 1987 yamaha warrior where the float stopped floating and i took a newer one out of a 1999 warrior. but if u said it happens on 2 carbs (OEM and chinese) then idk. GOOD LUCK i know the feeling. took us months to be as desperate to checking to see if the float floated, lol and yeah, check every dumb thing you can never be to sure.

    yeah i bent it and its stopping the needle right where it should be at, and it still leaks, but its not worn since its a new carb too......

    Did you rebuild the OEM carb? Kits are 15$ or so.....

    Have you tried taking the bowl off and holding the float up?

    Yeah and the needle closed at the exact perfect spot, after i adjusted it and it still leaks..... Took the chinese one off and put the OEM one back on and no more leaks, but the idle wont stop hanging no matter how i adjust it, im so frustrated!!!!!
